Natural landmarks

Not many areas can boast such natural diversity as the municipality of Pakoštane – an indented coastline with a view of a garden of islands and islets, a dreamy lake landscape with flood-meadows and reeds, water springs that were the starting point for a Roman aqueduct, all the way to lookouts offering a unique view. Vrana Lake is the largest natural lake in Croatia, the northwestern part of which has been declared an ornithological reserve, and the entire lake with its coastal part is a nature park.

Beaches

The part of the Adriatic Sea that belongs to the Municipality of Pakoštane is characterised by numerous islands and resembles a playful garden facing a long, indented coastline. The islands feature beautiful pebble, sand and rocky beaches, in a typically Mediterranean setting, with pine forests providing a pleasant shade. They include some of the most beautiful Dalmatian beaches, with golden sand and crystal-clear sea in deep bays. Visit the beaches of the Pakoštane region, enjoy these natural oases that will delight you with their cleanliness and beauty. For a special experience visit the Crkvine Beach and swim in the lake.

Active holiday

You can enjoy the nature of the Municipality of Pakoštane on foot, by bike, in a kayak or on a boat. The trails are largely well-maintained, allowing you to climb even the highest peaks. Sports events will complement your vacation as there are numerous organised activities available – trail races, mountain hikes, cycling, walking and swimming tours. There is something for everyone: from the “dm eko Pakoštane trail”, a unique race connecting the lake with the sea, to mountain biking and hiking tours on Vrana.

A variety of outdoor events are organized to cater to all types of participants – families with children, recreational athletes and those looking for more demanding challenges. They are an opportunity for sightseeing and walking, driving or climbing, all set against the municipality’s breath-taking scenery, soaked in the azure of the sea and the turquoise colours of the lake. Running, cycling and mountain biking races, hiking and other activities connect the the lake with the sea, traversing the nature park and the ornithological reserve, visiting cultural and historical landmarks, leading to water springs and scenic lookouts.
