At the fourth Open Squid Championship in Pakostane, organized by the Municipality of Pakostane and the Tourist Board of Pakostane, organized by the Sport Fishing Association of Pakostane, the first place and the gold medal was won by the team "Mona", composed by Manuela Vulin Dao, Irena Andrić and Iva Lacman.
At the fourth Open Squid Championship in Pakostane,
organized by the Municipality of Pakostane and the Tourist Board of Pakostane,
organized by the Sport Fishing Association of Pakostane, the first place and
the gold medal was won by the team "Mona", composed by Manuela Vulin
Dao, Irena Andrić and Iva Lacman with a total catch weight of 1375 grams, or
nine squid. The second place went to Goran Kurtov with a weight of 850 grams
and six squares, while the bronze medal went to the team of
"Grizzlies" consisting of Nikola Juričev, David Bajlo and Dijana
Uzelac with 830 grams of catch and five squids.
The largest or the heaviest catch of 1240 grams was caught by the team "Gemišt" composed of Ivan Krpeta and Josip Krpeta, and the smallest of 85 grams of the team "Bombo" composed by Ljubica Juričin and Željko Juričin. Lucky for the raffle was Lucia Juričev, who accounted for half of the total catch of this year's squids - just over 5 and a half kilograms.
Award for the third place was the "skomsalica" and tuna, for the second place was "vrša" and "parangal", while the first team won the "bumbetu" and "vršu". The team that caught the biggest squid was handed a valuable Mercury outboard engine of five "horses," and the team that caught the smallest squid was awarded the largest squid caught and binoculars.
The most successful awards were presented by Pakoštane Sports Fishing Association Domagoj Juricin, Pakoštane Tourist Board Director Danijela Vulin, Pakoštane Municipality Mayor Milivoj Kurtov, and Pakoštane Sports Fishing Association President Ante Žoni Maksan.
- On this occasion, we raised about 15 thousand kunas which we will allocate to one of the most needy families from the municipality of Pakoštane - said Maksan.
The main assessor of the catch was Tonći Luketa, a total of fifty-two teams participated, and the total catch of the competition was 11 kilograms and 135 grams. The program was hosted by Jelena Sučić, and in the music section the contestants and visitors of the event were entertained by the "Jimmy Shakers Band" and Minea.
